Nope this one isn’t my Mom… sorry folks. This one is my kids… and many, many other people. Now I understand not wanting to take the Lords name in vain, doesn’t stop me from doing it most days but I do understand it.
The first time I came across this I was living in Utah (Waves to his friends from there reading this). Utah has the largest population of Mormons in the U.S. and they don’t take the Lords name in vain lightly. I can’t ever remember having heard this phrase before living there. I don’t hear anyone here in NY say it except my kids and on occasion me, I get odd looks from other NY’ers when I say it though… like I’m some form of Heretic or something. I Suppose there is something in the Resident NY’er Bylaws about having to use curse words whenever possible… if so I missed it.
It’s just odd to me that it is so prevalent in some places and not in others. My eldest says it because she was Born in Utah… the younger two say it because she says it. I say it because I think it’s funny most times and other times because… well some of Utah rubbed of on me (heretic) lol. My Mom doesn’t say it though.. she says “Oh my Gosh!” So there you are… still got a mom “G” word!!!
